My Intro and Atlow Mill Centre

Post  Nyki K on Thu Jul 24, 2008 4:15 am

A friend of mine, registered on this forum as Xina54, sent me the link to this forum - thanks Xina! I have just "landed" from a very significant (for me) Unlocking The Power Within 3 day course run by the PGCEE students at Atlow Mill. At the end of the course I put out a suggestion that we set up a Yahoo group or similar to enable us to continue contact and refresh ourselves with connecting with each other not knowing that this forum existed. So I am now thinkking about introducing myself with a view to forwarding the link with an invitation to join to all my fellow travellers on UTPW and thereby eliminate the need for setting up any alternative kind of Yahoo type group.
However I am not sure about the context for this site? Am I right in making an assumption that this forum has been set up as a result of someone's experience of an Atlow Mill course in emotional education? If so is membership limited to Atlow Mill course participants or is it open to the wider community of people who may have taken part in a course elsewhere in emotional education or even simply have an interest in emotional education?
I am now really keen to further my experience and knowledge of emotional education, however for me this is closely aligned to wanting to support the development of the Atlow Mill Centre. So although I have a want to share from my personal perspective & experience as well as learn more about emotional education it is important for me that I am also in the right place to exchange ideas, shares, experiences and intentions about the development of the programme of emotional education courses at Atlow Mill Centre? Maybe even set that up as a separate forum topic?

Hi Nyki,

you are in the right place. The site was set up to promote emotional education as a subject as it is very powerful, as it seems you have experienced. Atlow Mill is the only place in the UK running courses in 'emotional education' in the strict sense as far as I know but I didn't want to limit the site to just people who have been to the Mill as this would be a bit exclusive. People come to emotional education in different ways and I would hope they go on to do a Course, at the Mill or somewhere else in the future. However, the site is promoted at the Mill and all participants, on all courses at the Mill, are encouraged to keep in touch with each other on this site. You can keep in touch here or send private messages to each other if you want to discuss confidential issues. I can set up an 'Atlow Mill' section if you like so you know that people who are on there have been to the Mill? Let me know...

I think you might find that this site isn't promoted as much as you think. When I brought it up at the end of my course no one seemed to know what I was talking about and as Nyki said - no one on her course mentioned it.
Is there a way of contacting everyone who has given an email address to let them know about the forum?

I will send some things up to them to give out. I will ask about emailing people who have done courses but it depends on whether this comes within the stated uses of their data policy! (data protection and all that). I would love them to though, good idea.

Thanks
